Maailmankieli project - learning Finnish through football

The Finnish language is, by all accounts, one of the hardest in the world to learn. Foreigners who live in Finland have an incredibly tough time getting to grips with it.

Football, on the other hand, is understood by the vast majority of the world's population. It has the power to bring people together, and pushes them apart, but almost everyone has an opinion on it. It could be described as the world's language - so what would happen if you used the power of football to teach  the Finnish language and give some tips on integrating into Finnish society? The Maailmankieli project is an attempt to find out.

You can read what's happening in our news section, read about the project, check out our football dictionary, or take the tests (you'll need to register for some parts of the site). Follow us on Facebook and Twitter for regular updates and occasional 'words of the day', and be the first to hear about exciting new initiatives. We're always happy to receive feedback, so if you have any comments or suggestions then please drop us a line via the contact form!
